Russell Westbrook Literally Got A Dent In His Face
Russell Westbrook whirling dervished his way to a third straight triple-double last night, the kind of performance we've come to expect in his incredible February. But late in the game, as he tried singlehandedly to stave off a loss to the Trail Blazers, we saw something new: he got a goddamn dent in his head.
There are no lighting tricks going on with the photo above—a cropped version of this one by AP's Don Ryan. Down one and trying desperately to foul a Blazer to stop the clock, Thunder teammate Andre Roberson clobbered Westbrook in the face with a knee:
Though he stayed in the game for the final 1.4 seconds, Westbrook only did so after lying face down on the court for awhile, and then wandering around rubbing his face:
It isn't clear yet how seriously, if at all, Westbrook is injured. After showering and dressing he was taken to a Portland-area hospital, with no reports yet about his condition.
