Sky's Angel Reese invests in D.C. women's pro soccer club

Angel Reese continues to make her mark in the sports world.
The WNBA rookie has purchased a share of the DC Power Football Club (Power FC), a women's pro soccer team based in Washington, D.C., set to make its United Soccer League (USL) Super League debut this summer.
Reese, whose total stake in the franchise was not disclosed, is the first member of the franchise's ownership group.
A standout for 2023 NCAA champion LSU, Reese was the seventh overall selection in last month's WNBA draft by the Chicago Sky.
The rookie has started both regular-season games for the Sky so far, averaging 11.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest.
Reese forms a natural fit with Power FC, having been raised in nearby Randallstown, Md.
"I want to help grow women's sports and elevate female athletes across the board," Reese said in a statement. "We're taking over, and I'm honored to be able to support Power FC and invest in women's soccer in the DMV community."
While still in college, Reese was among the highest-paid college athletes, owning more NIL deals and endorsements than any of her contemporary athletes across men's and women's basketball.
"Angel's decision to be a founding investor alongside us in Power FC is groundbreaking," D.C. United CEO Jason Levien said. "... We're looking forward to her partnership in the boardroom as an equity partner."
