Steelers Release Franchise Sacks Leader James Harrison
Photo credit: Justin Berl/ [object Object] The Pittsburgh Steelers today released franchise all-time sacks leader, insane workout enthusiast, and participation trophy-hater James Harrison:
Harrison has been a part-time player for the Steelers during his second stint with the team, and has appeared in just five games this season, recording three tackles and a single sack. ESPN says the parting includes no particular hard feelings:
Harrison’s agent, Bill Parise, said the parting is amicable, but Harrison was frustrated with a lesser role in the defense and wants to continue playing.
“There was no animosity or bad feelings. It’s just the business of the NFL,” Parise told ESPN’s Josina Anderson. “I believe he still wants to play. We’ll have to wait and see what happens with waivers.”
I think we all know what will happen with waivers: Harrison will wind up making several huge plays in an inevitable New England Patriots Super Bowl victory.
