The Cardinals Lost Their 17th Game

Yasiel Puig went 3-for-5 with a homer and Dodgers relievers pitched four shutout innings as Los Angeles downed St. Louis last night 8-4 at Chavez Ravine.

Michael Wacha fell to 2-4 on the season as the Cardinals hurler was unable to make it into the fifth inning after surrendering eight hits and six runs, two of them earned. Aledmys DĂ­az committed three errors and Matt Carpenter added a fourth, bringing St. Louis to a major-league-leading 33 errors on the season.


The loss drops the Cardinals to 19-17 on the season, good for third place in the N.L. Central.
