The Cardinals Lost Their 20th Game
Photo credit: Jeff Roberson/ [object Object] Jonathan Broxton surrendered five earned runs in just 1/3 of an inning, giving the Arizona Diamondbacks a boost that led to their 11-7 win over the Cardinals last night in St. Louis.
The visiting bullpen did their best to return the favor in the ninth, as the Cardinals scored five runs of their own against Arizona reliever Evan Marshall—but the deficit proved too large to overcome.
The loss drops St. Louis to 22-20 on the season, good for third place in the National League’s Central division. They are eight games behind Chicago in the standings.
