The Cardinals Lost Their 33rd Game
Photo: [object Object] Jurickson Profar’s two-RBI single with the bases loaded in the eighth inning gave the Texas Rangers a lead they wouldn’t relinquish Sunday, as they beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-4.
The Cardinals had a 4-3 lead in the sixth after Rangers starter Martin Perez walked in a run, but Redbirds reliever Matt Bowman blew the game when he allowed Rougned Odor and Mitch Moreland to score on Profar’s hit. Matt Bush had a perfect eighth inning for the Rangers, and Sam Dyson earned his 13th save of the season.
St. Louis infielder Matt Carpenter was vexed by the team’s performance this season. “It’s frustrating,” he told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “We’re a better team than this.”
The Cardinals are 35-33 and 15-21 at home. There’s always the next game!
