The Nets Finally Have A GM, And He's Got Less Than Five Hours To Make Some Trades
Well, this sure was unexpected:
We knew that the Nets were interested in hiring Spurs assistant GM Sean Marks, but the whole thing seemed kaput as of yesterday afternoon. It was reported that Marks had turned the Nets away, and then team owner Mikhail Prokhorov made some wry comments about never having heard of Marks. And yet here we are, with Marks installed as the new GM.
So what gives? Maybe the reports about Marks not wanting the job were just flat wrong, or maybe he had an eleventh-hour change of heart. It’s also possible that Prokhorov kidnapped Marks’s family and refused to release them until he took the job. Who can say what really happened?
The really funny thing is that Marks now has five hours to make some much-needed moves before the trade deadline passes. Should be a great day for him.
