They Call Them the Red Devils Because They're Evil
The story of the day out of the Premier League comes from Manchester where the mighty Red Devils took over the top spot on the table with a 4-0 dismantling of Wigan Athletic. Granted, it's a slow day in England, where just two games were played due to midweek European competitions. All of Manchester's goals came in a flurry of second half action. The slow first half could be attributed to a hangover from their midweek Champion's League victory over Roma. Although it's also possible that they were hungover from drinking a lot of alcohol.
Carlos Tevez (pictured) opened the floodgates at Old Trafford with strike in the the 54th minute. Wayne Rooney's 82nd minute header finished the scoring with a pair of goals from Cristiano Ronaldo sandwiched in between, which is precisely where Ronaldo likes it...right in between two really ugly guys.
In the league's only other Saturday contest Aston Villa dispatched of West Ham United 1-0 in a rather lackluster effort. A lone point would have placed the Hammers in a tie for tenth place on the league table but they were unable to get anything going offensively. The Villans win pushes them into fifth position in the league despite last week's 4-4 draw with the Championship bound Spurs.
Liverpool will take on Tottenham tomorrow at 10 am on Fox Soccer Channel while Arsenal and my Blues highlight the doubleheader on Setanta (which I'm too cheap to spend 20 bucks a month to purchase).
