This Pre-Race Prayer Might Actually Be The Most Redneck Moment In NASCAR History
Perhaps NASCAR, its Nationwide Series especially, looks like an extended redneck highlight reel, but last night's race in Gladeville, TN offered us one of the redneckiest moments you'll ever see. It came in the pre-race prayer—which, I suppose, duh—but we were so riveted that we shall now thank the Lord in future for Pastor Joe Nelms.
He praises Sunoco, Goodyear, his "smokin' hot wife," and closed it with "Boogity, boogity, Amen." We love this guy.
So does Carl Edwards (from the Tennessean):
Race winner Carl Edwards appreciated the humor that came with Nelms' prayer.
"I turned to Jack (Roush) after that. I said, ‘If anything happens, I want him to be at my funeral.' That was one of the best invocations I have ever heard."
Within minutes the video had been posted on both YouTube and Facebook and was garnering dozens of views.
Dozens of em!
