This image was lost some time after publication. You remember Curt Smith — he was one of George H.W. Bush's most prolific speechwriters. You've probably been walking around town quoting Smith lines for years and not known it. There was the memorable time Bush said, um ... and the time he talked about ... er ... that thing ... ah ... Well, just trust us, that was Smith. Now he's the newest contributor to MLB Blogs, proving that even an acclaimed author and college English lecturer isn't above rubbing elbows with writers such Astros announcer Jim Deshaies and MLB groundskeeping guru Murray Cook. A regular Algonquin Roundtable, ain't it? Smith, it seems, is really making an effort to leave his political life behind. In his first post, it took him all the way to the fourth graph before using the term "elitist."
