Today In MLB Blogs

If you've never been there, we can pretty much sum up the bulk of MLB Blogs in three words: Vacuous pap. Hmm — actually, it only took two words.
But as Dr. Ian Malcolm said in Jurassic Park: Nature finds a way. The site Philliedog started out pretty pedestrian, concerned as it was with player nicknames and the home team's lack of relief pitching. But then, evolution occurred. Amazingly, Philliedog has morphed into one of the zestiest political blogs on the net — right in MLB Blogs' own backyard. Recent excerpt:
"Help is on the way", declared the President of the United States of America yesterday, after interrupting his five(5) week vacation in Texas. His remarks, of course, where in reference to the incredible aftermath of Hurricane Katrina ... The burning question now is this: should we be surprised? Surprised that this utterly incompetent administration is doing anything besides dithering, anything besides transferring wealth to the rich, anything besides being stupid and incompetent, and anything that is intelligent, or smart or informed, or caring: anything that resembles effective action to alleviate suffering, or death, or heartache, or needless loss of life, or, even thirst? The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind; the answer is "no."
Probably not what the well-coifed MLB.com executives had in mind. Ha. Way to go, Philliedog.
