The 15-Minute Home Run Trot
This image was lost some time after publication. Craziest play in the Red Sox-Blue Jays game last night. Red Sox outfielder Gabe Kapler — beloved by gays and Jews alike! — tore his Achilles rounding second base on Tony Graffanino's home run, and he couldn't move. Graffanino stopped behind Kapler and waited, and, surprisingly (to us), the umpires allowed a pinch-runner for Kapler in the middle of the play. We're sure the Baseball Prospectus people will explain to us how this works later on today, but that has to be the longest home run trot since ... well, since Barry Bonds last hit a homer.
By the way, do people still debate whether or not Kapler is gay anymore? Do they even bother?
