College Football Recap: Giggity, Giggity!
Were there a whole lot of football games being played by college students yesterday or what? Let's recap all of the Top 25 games - you can look up the rest on your own - trying to only use about sentence or so for each one because baseball will not let anyone sleep! (1) Texas vs. (6) Oklahoma State: Colt McCoy throws for nearly 400 yards and accounts for 3 TDs in a game that went down to the wire. Texas, 28-24. (2) Alabama vs. Tennessee: Vols are held to only 173 total yards under the careful watch of their new inspirational leader. Alabama, 29-9. (3) Penn State vs. (9) Ohio State: Joe Pa continues remarkable run to the Big Ten crown. Penn State, 13-6. (4) Oklahoma vs. Kansas State: Balanced Sooners attack go for 256 yards through the air and 273 on the ground. Oklahoma, 58-34. (5) USC vs. Arizona: Strong defense carries Trojans who actually don't score in the 4th quarter at all! USC, 17-10. (7) Georgia vs. (13) LSU: That's what you call an offensive output, as the two teams combine for 940 yards. Georgia, 52-38. (8) Texas Tech vs. (23) Kansas: The big story was the kicking game - new walk-on kicker Matt Williams connected on all 9 of his extra points while veteran kicker Donnie Corona missed his only field goal attempt. Texas Tech, 63-21. (10) Florida vs. Kentucky: Tim Tebow makes God happy with 2 TDs passing and 2 TDs running. Florida, 63-5. (12) Boise State vs. San Jose State: Boise State RB Ian Johnson moves within 6 TDs of an all-time WAC TD record currently held by a Mr. Marshall Faulk. Boise State, 33-16. (14) TCU vs. Wyoming: TCU WR Jimmy Young gets 226 yards and 3 TDs in only 5 catches. TCU, 54-7. (15) Missouri vs. Colorado: That's just an old fashioned beat-down. Everyone on Missouri does something good, everyone on Colorado does something bad. Missouri, 58-0. (16) South Florida vs. Louisville: Matt Grothe's 344 yards passing means nothing as South Florida can't stop getting flagged for penalties. Louisville, 24-20. (17) Pittsburgh vs. Rutgers: Rutgers pulls the upset thanks to a huge game by QB Mike Tell, who threw for 6 TDs. Rutgers, 54-24. (18) Georgia Tech vs. Virginia: Virginia comes back after GT scores 14 in the 1st quarter. Virginia, 24-17. (20) Ball State vs. Eastern Michigan: Quarterback Nate Davis throws 2 TD passes, and catches the first one of his career. Ball State, 38-16. (21) Brigham Young vs. UNLV: Brigham Young QB Max Hall throws for 4 TDs, one for each future wife. Brigham Young, 42-35. (22) Northwestern vs. Indiana: Hoosiers win the turnover battle 5-0. Indiana, 21-19. (24) Minnesota vs. Purdue: An old fashioned Big Ten bruiser with lots of defense of field goals. What fun! Minnesota, 17-6. (25) Florida State vs. Virginia Tech: FSU scores 20 points in the 2nd half thanks to two amazing catches by WR Greg Carr. Florida State, 30-20.
