Okay, What Is Happening?: Redesign

Yeah, yeah. I know. You're looking at this page and thinking 'when the hell did Deadspin turn into Reddit?'

But relax. What you're seeing right now is the "condensed" version of the front page. This whole thing is done to make the Deadspin reading experience more enjoyable, especially for people who just like to skim headlines and pretty photos of Steve Young getting bopped in the face with a plastic cup. For those of you who prefer your Deadspin front page the way it's been the past few days, just go up to that section that menu bar titled "View" above the most recent story and click "Expanded." Look! It's back to normal. There are more words to read. Hooray.

This will be an adjustment on the eyes, I know. We're still having trouble figuring out all the secret buttons that turn the headlines bigger and the background photos different colors. Rick actually used the wrong tag this morning and managed to make flames shoot out of Shiancoe's cock. He still hasn't recovered. But I'm told this will also help "load time" and give you a better presentation of the site's content.

Also, on stories like Will's "SHOTY Final Vote" story, I added a tag that changed the background blue.

"That's a lot of goddamn blue, " he said. He was thrilled. Will's still grouchy because he somehow pissed off Q-Tip (fucking Q-Tip) so he was in no mood for distracting colors. But seriously: Will Leitch angered Q-Tip enough that the dude invaded NYmag.com's comments section and just went offff on the white boy:

UPDATE: Oh, I forgot. Those little bubbles on the side. They turn orange when a story goes over 10,000 page views. The little comment bubble turns orange when more than 100 people comment. If it turns gray that means an elderly person has died. Don't let that happen.
