Urban Meyer Resigns as Florida Coach, Presumably For More Than One Half
Reports are coming in that the University of Florida has announced that head football coach Urban Meyer is stepping down after the Sugar Bowl. Per the press release:
"I have given my heart and soul to coaching college football and mentoring young men for the last 24-plus years and I have dedicated most of my waking moments the last five years to the Gator football program," Meyer said in statement. "I have ignored my health for years, but recent developments have forced me to re-evaluate my priorities of faith and family."
Looks like some scamps are already taking advantage of the flurry of Wikipedia updates:
Florida is set to face Cincinnati on New Year's Day in the Sugar Bowl. I welcome your thoughts and theories in the comments.
UPDATE: Sports Illustrated ran a piece about Meyer three weeks ago that referenced a brain cyst, while NBC Sports College Football Talk alludes to a heart condition. [via Sports by Brooks]
