Everything In NE Is About The Red Sox, Even Politics
Martha Coakley is Massachusetts's attorney general. She wants to fill Ted Kennedy's vacant senate seat. She thinks that Curt Schilling is a Yankees fan. This does not bode well for her candidacy.
The election is on Tuesday, and Coakley attempted to garner some last minute votes from Red Sox Nation by going on WBZ ( audio here).
In noting that her rival, Republican state Sen. Scott Brown, had visited Boston with Rudolph W. Giuliani, she reminded her Boston listeners that Giuliani (and thus maybe Brown?) is a Yankees fan.
Rea responded: "Yeah, but now Scott Brown has Curt Schilling, OK?"
And Coakley replied: "And another Yankees fan."
"Schilling?'' Mr. Rea asked.
"Yes,'' she said.
Well, no, obviously. And he's not a Democrat either, so he had something to say about Coakley's gaffe.
I've been called a lot of things...But never, and I mean never, could anyone ever make the mistake of calling me a Yankee fan. Well, check that, if you didn't know what the hell is going on in your own state maybe you could….
Considering how John Kerry once referred to Red Sox player "Manny Ortez," this doesn't look good for Coakley.
