Meet The Fastball-Hitting, Slick-Fielding 5-Year-Old
Ariel Antigua is a 5-year-old that plays baseball like a 5-year-old Troy Tulowitzki. Unlike others his age, he hits from both sides of the plate, can hit an 85 MPH fastball and fields "like a college guy."
Friend of the site, Robert Lunn, sent along this video and conveniently cherry-picked the choicest quote, from Antigua's trainer and the owner of Lyndhurst, NJ's The Hot Corner Edwin Ortiz:
It's going to be a pleasure to have him in our facility for the net 14 to 20 years.
You'll have to watch the video to see Ortiz salivating at the idea and the dollar signs in his eye.
The whole "Are We Pushing Our Kids Too Far In Sports" thing has become a tired trope, but it remains an uncomfortable subject. Comb YouTube a bit and you'll find other unhappy looking kids getting peppered with directions and grounders. At least Ariel Antigua appears to actually like the game.
