Ethier, who leads the NL in average, homers and RBIs, broke his pinkie during batting practice on Saturday. No word yet on whether he'll be placed on the DL or, like so many other Triple Crown hopefuls who suffered minor injuries before him, humanely destroyed.
• Disgraced sprinter Marion Jones made her debut with the WNBA's Tulsa Shock last night, riding the pine for most of her team's loss to the Minnesota Lynx. That's her coach, former Arkansas Razorbacks' bench boss Nolan Richardson, pictured up top taking in more than his fair share of air.
