Strasburg Usurper Manages To Offend Beauty Queen
Miguel Batista managed to offend hundreds of Washington D.C. baseball game attendees Tuesday when he had the gall to make a spot start in place of D.C.'s Lord and Savior, the very much injured Stephen Strasburg. Then he went and dissed Iowa.
Asked about his response to being booed by the legion of Strasburgalytes at the game for withholding them from their deity, Batista replied that he understood where they were coming from and added, "Imagine if you go to see Miss Universe, then you end up having Miss Iowa." This did not sit well with Katherine Connors, the current Miss Iowa.
Wednesday, Connors threw down the gauntlet, challenging the journeyman pitcher "to walk down a runway in high heels and declared she could "throw a pitch or two!" Batista immediately backed off from his statement, claiming it was misinterpreted and sent the woman flowers. Connors was invited by the Nationals to throw out the first pitch, which she will do tonight when the team faces the Phillies. Bringing the end to the quadrennial tradition of Miguel Batista being newsworthy.
