Let's Not Start Sucking Each Other's Vicks Quite Yet

You might be aware, our esteemed editor is an Eagles fan. You might be aware, he thinks Michael Vick is the best football player in the universe ever. Hold on there, bucko.

Philadelphia is so far in the tank for Vick, it's ridiculous. Not saying he won't be good and/or better than Kolb, but this is all based on half a shootout against Green Bay, and a shootout against the Lions.

The Detroit Lions. You might have heard of them. Bad football team. Seventy games under .500 in their past 10 seasons.

So I thought we could go back two-plus years and put together a list of quarterbacks who've had good games against the Lions. You'll notice that many of these quarterbacks are not, nor were ever the best football players in the universe ever.

Aaron Rodgers. 328 Yds, 3 TDs, 0 Ints. J.T. O'Sullivan. 189 Yds, 2 TDs, 0 Ints. Kyle Orton. 334 Yds, 2 TDs, 0 Ints. Gus Frerotte. 296 Yds, 1 TD, 1 Int. Matt Schaub. 267 Yds, 2 TDs, 0 Ints. Jason Campbell. 328 Yds, 1 TD, 0 Ints. David Garrard. 238 Yds, 2 TDs, 0 Ints. Jeff Garcia. 165 Yds, 2 TDs, 0 Ints. Peyton Manning. 318 Yds, 1 TD, 0 Ints. Drew Brees. 351 Yds, 2 TDs, 0 Ints. Aaron Rodgers. 308 Yds, 3 TDs, 0 Ints. Drew Brees. 358 Yds, 6 TDs, 1 Int. Jason Campbell. 340 Yds, 2 TDs, 1 Int. Ben Roethlisberger. 277 Yds, 3 TDs, 1 Int. Aaron Rodgers. 358 Yds, 2 TDs, 0 Ints. Matt Hasselbeck. 329 Yds, 1 TD, 1 Int. Brett Favre. 344 Yds, 1 TD, 0 Ints. Brady Quinn. 304 Yds, 4 TDs, 0 Ints. Aaron Rodgers. 348 Yds, 3 TDs, 0 Ints. Joe Flacco. 230 Yds, 1 TD, 0 Ints. Kurt Warner. 228 Yds, 1 TD, 1 Int. Alex Smith. 230 Yds, 1 TD, 0 Ints. Jay Cutler. 276 Yds, 4 TDs, 0 Ints. Jay Cutler. 372 Yds, 3 TDs, 1 Int. Michael Vick. 284 Yds, 2 TDs, 0 Ints.

For clarity's sake, I've bolded the stat lines of quarterbacks who are no longer starting in the NFL (and italicized those of a QB who really shouldn't be).

This list only proves that a start against Detroit proves nothing. Beating up on the Lions secondary isn't cause to anoint McNabb's successor just yet.
