Please Help Us Track Down Lisa Ripi, The "Jets' Muscle" In The Favre Massage Incident
Lisa Ripi is a personal trainer/acupuncturist who works, or worked, for the New York Jets. According to sources, she oversaw the massage therapists at Jets camp in 2008. She knew about Favre's texts, we're told, and urged the therapists to do nothing.
Ripi has left an odd Google trail: from a about her bodybuilding days, to a web site that suggests she married one of the founders of 1980s rock band Zebra, to a mention on the site for "Stuttering" John Melendez (whom she apparently once trained), to a travel log associated with Dhani Jones during his Travel Channel TV stint, to a weird cameo in a Pittsburgh TV report about James Harrison's pit bull.
We made a phone call to the one acupuncture studio that popped up (she appears under the name Lisa Ripi-Taffurelli). We said we were looking for Ms. Ripi and were told, "So is everybody else." She apparently hadn't worked there in years.
In the Favre massage-texting saga, Ripi serves as the "Jets' muscle," our source says. She supposedly knew about the unwanted text messages Favre sent to some of the Jets' part-time massage therapists, but she discouraged them from complaining to team HR.
I asked the Jets via their public relations consulting firm about the connection between Ripi and the team. A spokesman referred all questions pertaining to the Favre investigation to the NFL. The NFL won't disclose any details about its ongoing investigation at this time.
Anyway, if any of you out there have a photo of Ripi or information how to contact her, it would be helpful. I-Team assemble, please.
