Rick Pitino To Coach Puerto Rico, Says Tabloid Paper In Language I Don't Understand
It's being reported that Pitino will take the reins of the Puerto Rican National Team, coaching them at next summer's Olympic qualifying tournament, and likely the 2012 Olympics.
Primera Hora which has been circulating as rumor for about a week now. It actually makes a ton of sense for everyone. PR has a quality team, being ranked as high as 10th recently before bombing at Worlds this summer. A high-profile coaching hire is a logical move.
And for Pitino, it opens up a pipeline for recruiting the island's talent to Louisville, or wherever he finds himself in the future. It also helps a man reeling from the Karen Sypher case to establish his credentials on an international level.
Or maybe he just wants to be Coach K.
