Lance Armstrong Stepped To Tyler Hamilton Outside A Boys Room In Aspen On Saturday
For a man with one testicle, Lance Armstrong has enormous balls. This past weekend, Armstrong all but challenged his former teammate and current nemesis, Tyler Hamilton, to a duel outside the bathroom of a swank Aspen restaurant. Hamilton was in town to lead bike rides for Outside magazine and dine with friends at Cache Cache, a restaurant that serves things like escargots à la Bourguignonne and veal ossobuco with marsala sauce and French lentils. Here's what happened when he got up to use the loo:
During dinner, Hamilton left his table to go to the bathroom. As he walked out of the bathroom, an arm blocked his path. It was Armstrong. The two hadn't spoken since Hamilton's 60 Minutes appearance.
"He wanted to get into it," Hamilton told me this morning. "I was like, ‘Let's step outside and talk away from the crowd, but he wouldn't. He said, ‘No one cares.'" Then, according to Hamilton, Armstrong began to berate him.
(Armstrong's version of the encounter is a bit more tame: "I said, ‘Hey, what's up?'" he says. "It was certainly awkward for both of us. It was truly uneventful.")
Heh. Sure, Lance. It was eventful enough that the owner of the restaurant, a close friend of Armstrong's, kicked Hamilton out and told him not to come back. Outside magazine staffers who saw Hamilton on the street moment later said he looked shaken. Once a domestique, always a domestique. Lance Armstrong and Tyler Hamilton Walk Into a Bar [Outside]
