The Sucker Karate Kick Is Much More Evil Than The Sucker Punch
After a third-round game in a U-20 soccer tournament in Minas Gerais, Brasil on Monday, the players brawled. That brawl suddenly ended, however, when Sport Recife goalkeeper Gustavo karate-kicked Vasco da Gama's Elivelton directly in his neck from behind and with no warning.
Medics carried Elivelton off the field on a stretcher and he was treated at a nearby hospital for "suspected cervical spine trauma." He does not have a broken neck. Gustavo, 18, has already been relieved of his goalkeeper duties for what a Vasco coach called a "cowardly act" — and for what we'll admit was a fairly athletic feat for a goalie — and will be credited for a 3-1 loss, as well.
