Paul Hamm Is Just Another Unemployed Drunk Male Gymnast Now
The Olympic gymnast Paul Hamm has been fired from his assistant coaching position at The Ohio State University, following his arrest for assaulting a cab driver in Columbus last Saturday.
Gene Smith, the Buckeyes' Athletic Director, said in a press release that Hamm hadn't acted according to TOSU's famously high standards:
After meeting with Coach (Rustam) Sharipov and considering his recommendations, Paul Hamm has been terminated as an assistant coach with the Ohio State men's gymnastics team, effective immediately. We have high standards for our coaching staff and unfortunately Mr. Hamm failed to meet those standards.
Hamm, who only joined Ohio State's gymnastics staff this past June, is currently free on bail and has an arraignment scheduled for next Thursday. He has not yet commented publicly on the incident, but if you hear of any replay consultant jobs in the Midwest gymnastics circuit, he could surely use a referral.
