Former Paterno Assistant Indicted On Charges Of "Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse," Among Other Things

A "Penn State coaching legend" once considered the successor to Joe Paterno was indicted today by a grand jury on some very nasty sex abuse charges. Two years ago, Jerry Sandusky, the former defensive coordinator for the Nittany Lions, was accused of "inappropriate contact" with a teenage boy. The ensuing investigation turned up other, older allegations, including some "inappropriate touching in a shower" in 1998. Yuckie yuck.

Paterno testified before the grand jury. No idea what he said. What we do know is that the paperwork filed against Sandusky today includes 40 counts of wicked behavior from 1996-2005, according to the , which also reports this disturbing tidbit:

Sandusky retired from Penn State shortly after the Alamo Bowl in December 1999, and began devoting all of his time to running The Second Mile, a children's charity he founded in 1977 that reaches 200,000 kids in this state each year through programs and camps.

In March, Hickey found Sandusky's autobiography on Amazon. Although receiving a five-star rating by its lone reviewer, the book carries a rather unfortunate title: Touched: The Jerry Sandusky Story. Yuckie yuck.
