Pau Gasol Passes Like Ricky Rubio
There must be something in the water, since all shaggy-haired Spaniards seem to have a preternatural ability to find an open teammate without having to actually see them. A cutting Gasol drew both his man and Andrew Bynum's, and a nifty little over-the-shoulder dump to Bynum was pretty and pretty effective.
Because Bynum was fouled, this was not one of Gasol's 10 assists. It seems like Pau's been playing with his back to the basket more in recent games, something of the Pau of old, but it's not enough. The Lakers lost their third straight, and fell a game back of the Clippers in the Pacific. Roy Hibbert took over down the stretch after breaking his nose on Kobe Bryant's elbow, and he said afterward he "couldn't get it fixed up because they didn't have a doctor here to put it back in place." If you can't find a facial reconstructive surgeon at a Lakers game, you're just not looking hard enough.
