Philadelphia Union Preseason Friendly Called Off After Not-So-Friendly Fight
The Union are on a tour of Costa Rica to tune up for the start of the MLS regular season, and today's opponents were Primera División side AD Belen. The match was called off midway through the first half, with Belen up 2-0, when the teams engaged in some kicking and shoving.
Belen's website says the Union played "anti-football" and uploaded a video of the fracas, which began after Philadelphia's Michael Farfan made an iffy tackle from behind on a Belen player. From the way the video is edited, there's no clue as to what started the bad blood, but there's no way Farfan's challenge came out of nowhere.
