Ian Eagle Had A Whiny Meltdown Last Night, Accused Partner Mike Fratello Of Being "Patronizing"
The final minutes of last night's YES Network broadcast of the Celtics-Nets game were awkward after veteran play-by-play rock Ian Eagle inexplicably voiced his complaints to analyst Mike Fratello on-air.
Claiming Fratello was "patronizing" and spewing "gobbeldygook," Eagle spoke to his years in the business in attempting to admonish the former NBA coach. Fratello—who's in his final season doing games for the Nets—replied with the insinuation that Eagle was too sensitive.
Look, this is really weird. These are two guys with long tenures in the business and who have generally established themselves as some of the best; we're at a bit of a loss for words as to how this went down, other than it was late, Saturday night, and the Nets.
(We listened to the Czar's commentary Eagle was characterizing as "patronizing gobbeldygook," and didn't hear anything out of the ordinary.) [YES]
