LeBron James Cuddled The Larry O'Brien Trophy Like It Was One Of His Children
I had a conversation about LeBron James with my grandmother at a cousin's wedding in Colorado this weekend. My Баба lives outside of Cleveland, and like all awesome old ladies she has strong opinions about sports. Our discussion turned to basketball and LeBron James's psyche.
"He doesn't care about that trophy. He just wants the ring."
That's actually a poignant statement when you think about it, and maybe it gives you some new subtext to the above image, run in a montage before last night's Game One Heat loss to the Thunder. LeBron has two kids but no rings, and it's odd that basketball is a sport where someone would be photographed caressing a trophy they haven't yet won. (Hockey, meanwhile, lets complete strangers molest the Stanley Cup, though I'd wager anyone who suspects they have a shot at ever winning it probably keeps hands off.)
