This Mets Fan Who Took A Nasty Tumble On Live TV Earns A Yellow Card For Diving [UPDATE]
As SNY went to break after the top of the seventh of tonight's Phillies-Mets matchup at Citi Field, cameras caught one mets fan taking a tumble and sending his beer cups flying. We all got a good laugh out of it—as did the SNY announcers—but a closer inspection reveals it was all staged.
Look closely, especially at the slow-motion in HD. The gentleman pretty clearly throws his cups into the air even before he starts falling—indeed, he doesn't even appear to make much contact with the shocked lad who allegedly caused the man to trip. Consider it a failed guerilla audition. [SNY/MLB Network]
This is a Deadspin Video, in which strange sports moments are slowed down to ridiculous speeds and matched with indie music. This video features " A Century Of Fakers" by Belle and Sebastian. See previous episodes here.
Update (9:55 p.m.): Reader Gerard points out this same gentleman has pulled the stunt on SNY before ( and we actually wrote about it):
Update 2 (10:08 p.m.): Reader Robb says it's a friend of his, an SNY cameraman who sets the camera up to film himself. That's... normal.
