Steelers Rookie Sean Spence Suffered A Grotesque Knee Injury In Last Night's Pre-Season Game
Steelers rookie linebacker Sean Spence will r eportedly miss all of 2012 after suffering a torn ACL and LCL along with a dislocated kneecap in an incident during the third quarter of last night's Pittsburgh-Carolina preseason game.
Spence's cleat appears to get caught in the turf, leading to an extreme hyperextension of his left leg. Spence was a third-round Steelers pick out of the University of Miami where he led the team in tackles and tackles for loss last season. Given the injury's severity, he will face a long road if he ever wants to appear in an NFL regular season football game.
Steelers broadcasters went from "ouch" to "omglookawaylookaway" as the slow-motion replay on KDKA progressed, and we wonder if some day directors might actually give announcers (and, just maybe, viewers) a head's up that what they're about to see is gruesome.
