Mark Cuban Twists Deron Williams's Words To Make Williams Seem Unhappy With The Nets
On Monday, Deron Williams told reporters that he decided to stay with the Nets instead of signing with the Mavericks due to the absence of Mavs owner Mark Cuban (who was filming an episode of Shark Tank at the time) at the free-agency pitch. Today, Cuban fired back at Williams, but chose to call Williams out for what he didn't say.
From Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News:
"I'm a big D-Will fan, but I'm kind of surprised that he would throw his front office under the bus like that by saying that I would make a difference,'' Cuban said before the Mavericks' exhibition game against FC Barcelona Regal. "I would have expected him to say – like I'd expect one of our guys to say – ‘Hey I'm so thrilled with the front office and the moves we made and our team that it wouldn't have mattered what he did.'
Ouch. That's what you get for taking shots at Cubes, Deron. He makes you look like a big jerk who isn't 100% committed to his team. Mess with Cubes, and he'll leave you in the cold.
