CFL Team Puts Yule Log On Stadium Video Board; Four People Call Fire Department
The CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders have been getting into the holiday spirit. On the Mosaic Stadium scoreboard, the team has been running video of a Yule log, crackling gently to bring some cheer and comfort in these cold Regina nights. In the past few weeks, four people have called 911 to report a fire.
Deputy fire chief Gerard Kay said the callers were very descriptive, reporting "a very bright flame. In some cases the smell of smoke."
Depending on your position and proximity, it can look like a burning log on a jumbotron—or flames over the stadium and nearby houses. One call to the fire department is an anomaly; four is a problem that needs to be addressed. The deputy chief called the team, asking them to replace the video with something less terror-inducing, "maybe some snowflakes or Santa or something like that." The Roughriders have taken the log down, because nobody, anywhere, can have nice things.
