The Celtics Called Up Fab Melo Because He Walked Into A Door
Fab Melo has been tearing up the D-League. But it's not his stats that have gotten the big Brazilian, taken 22nd overall, his call-up to Boston. It's clumsiness.
Melo left the Maine Red Claws because of rules that mandate a player must be on the NBA roster to be treated by the team's medical staff. According to the team, Melo recently suffered a "non-sports-related concussion", and needs to be a Celtic to use the team's trainers and medical facilities. It's the same reason he was called up last month after suffering a leg injury. How exactly did he hurt himself this time?
Doc Rivers couldn't help but laugh.
"What did you have, ‘Manny being Manny?'" Rivers said. "Well, in five years when Fab's playing terrific for us here, we're going to have some ‘Fab being Fab' moments."
