Brazilian Prostitutes Learning English For The World Cup
You know what they say: English is the international language of negotiating payment for sexual services provided by a professional. To that end, since World Cup is heading to Brazil in 2014, a prostitute advocacy group in the city of Belo Horizonte is offering free English classes to get the women ready for a supposed influx of business.
Prostitution is legal in Brazil (pimping is not, though enforcement is lax), and just like with past World Cups, they're expecting a larger-than-usual clientele. (That this prostitution boom doesn't actually occur is almost beside the point.) The Association of Prostitution, through its regional chapters, is partnering with local teachers to provide lessons for anyone who wants.
"English will be very important to communicate with clients during the Cup," [association president Cida] Vieira said. "They'll have to learn how to work out financial deals and also use a specialized vocabulary with sensual words and fetishes."
Viera said that only about 20 women have signed up, so there's a good chance you might not run into one of the bilingual prostitutes. So just remember: "sex" is "sexo."
