The news that Bud Selig will step down as baseball commissioner after next season is being played up as a big, breaking story. Even a "scoop!" Do we all just have really short memories?

I get the skepticism: Selig has previously alluded to his retirement, only to sign a contract extension. But maybe the surprise should be saved for if he reneges on this latest promise, instead of for him saying the same thing for the 19th straight time.
