Reddit user adam4283 has created 31 sprites (including the North Stars) from everybody's favorite 8-bit side-scrolling platform shooter. For just a few pixels, it's amazing how instantly recognizable most teams are. That's testament to Adam's work, as well as the clean and distinctive logos and color schemes of many hockey uniforms.
You can view all of the sprites here. Adam first announced his plan to make these eight months ago, so either real life got in the way, or it was an awful lot of work. But when you look at little Henrik Lundqvist's hair, it was clearly worth it.
Put these sprites in a video game, say with the mechanics of NES's Ice Hockey, and I would buy and play the shit out of it.
