Jeremy Guthrie Chucked A Ball Into The Upper Deck
Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie, presumably upset about a home run allowed earlier in the inning, snagged a line drive for the third out and hurled that sonofabitch to the heavens.
"My first thought was to try to throw it out of the stadium," Guthrie said, and that would have been awesome. "I thought a fan upstairs deserved a ball. It's always the fans down below who get the balls. Someone up on the third deck, cheap tickets, they deserve a ball.
Guthrie may not have heard the last of this. In 2009, Fernando Rodney was suspended three games for chucking a ball into the Tropicana Field press box after closing out a game. Guthrie's not particularly worried, though.
"Repercussions? I'm not totally concerned with that," Guthrie said. "I'm more concerned with repercussions from giving up two home runs."
The Blue Jays went on to win, 7-3.
