Report: Richie Incognito Will Never Play Another Game As A Dolphin
This is probably the least surprising news of the day (trailing reports of racial and threatening text messages to Jonathan Martin, as well as evidence that Richie Incognito's dad kept up the harassment online), but the Miami Herald has it straight from the Dolphins' mouth: Incognito is "done" in teal.
The Dolphins announced Incognito's indefinite suspension from the team last night—with pay, we presume, because no one has said otherwise. The NFL has taken the lead in the investigation, and the Dolphins are content to let that play out. But once that's over, so is Incognito's career in Miami.
"He's done," a ranking club source said Monday. "There are procedures in place and everyone wants to be fair. The NFL is involved. But from a club perspective he'll never play another game here."
Incognito is an unrestricted free agent after this year, so the Dolphins wouldn't need to cut him—they could just deactivate him, or continue his suspension through the final months of the season. The question is whether repeated issues with his character will cost Incognito, a good football player who turns 31 in the offseason, the shot at a future contract.
