Rudy Gay To George Karl: "Welcome To Basketball Hell"
Photo credit: Rich Pedroncelli/ [object Object] The Sacramento Kings, a failed state of an NBA team run by a clueless owner, will be bad this year, despite internal expectations that they’ll make the playoffs. One of the reasons why they could actually improve this season is because their new coach Dave Joerger seems to have a clue, unlike George Karl, who helmed the team to a listless 33-win season, feuded with DeMarcus Cousins, and seemed generally uninterested in coaching.
Marc Stein got his hands on an advance copy of Karl’s forthcoming book (ominously entitled “Furious George”), and it includes a funny, telling little anecdote about Gay welcoming Karl to sacramento.
An aside on Gay: He’s quoted ... as telling Karl when he met the new Sacramento coach for the first time in February 2015, “Welcome to basketball hell.”
He was not wrong, and if Gay is lucky, he’ll get out soon enough himself.
