Some Genius Painted 35 Black Velvet Portraits Of Pro Wrestlers

Beginning on Friday, Gallery1988 in Los Angeles will be hosting "Velvetmania," Bruce White's show of over 35 black velvet paintings of pro wrestling icons. Finally, art for the common man.

White works almost exclusively in the velvet medium (you can see more of his work here), but had never before tackled grapplers. It's a perfect fit: kitsch meets kitsch, resulting in a turnbuckle-rattling orgasm of Americana.
