John Madden finally got his wish to quit Brett Favre.
I didn't watch the game last night. Please tell me John Madden didn't actually say that.
2 p.m. Nextel champ Jimmie Johnson: OK, so you're the Cup champ.
How big's your dong, kid?
Don't worry Brett, John could never love Tom like he loves you...I bet he doesn't even give Tom a reach-around.
Madden did add that he thinks Farve has a much nicer ass.
I think the more important question is: Who does Frank Caliendo as John Madden think is a better QB?
@Hazel Maes Landing Strip: I would guess Frank Caliendo as Terry Bradshaw.
To step out of being a biased Patriots for a minute. Imagine if the Packers actually got Randy Moss.
What kind of season would Brett Favre be having?
How much more fun would he have?
Madden said that he'd never seen a QB playing as well as Brady's playing right now. He did however note that Favre's semen still carries a hint of rosemary and a bold aftertaste.
Dear Jimmie,
Can you please ask ESPN to stop talking about you and Jeff Gordon and the "Race For The Chase" and Dale Earnhardt and DEI and the Nextel Series and NASCAR?
Thanks,
Brazil Thrill
Brady might be playing the best football right now but in person he is the whiniest crybaby I've ever seen. Belichick slapped him on the ass once and he got in the ref's face demanding a 15 yard penalty.
@Len Bias Cocaine Surplus: Yea, I've been wondering about that the last few weeks. As much fun as he's (sorry, He's) having, that would be absolutely amazing. Or, He'd devolve into 2 seasons ago and just start chucking it down the field.
@twoeightnine: I would be concerned too if most of the time the only people touching me are super models.
Well, isn't Brady playing better than any quarterback ever?
@Mr. Marinovich: Its almost impossible to say he's not.
His QB rating is almost 30 points better than anyone else in the league.
@Len Bias Cocaine Surplus: @Diddly: If Favre had Moss, we would be talking about an undefeated Packers team steamrolling towards a Super Bowl. Take him away from New England, and you have a few undersized burners (Welker, Stallworth) and Ben Watson to go with a complement of RBs whose bones are made of silk.
Put him in green and gold, and you don't have to worry about Green Bay's anemic running game.
@RockYouLikeAnIracane: I mean the Patriots would still obviously be a playoff team without him, but with him it is just ridiculous.
If the Packers had just decided Randy Moss was worth maybe a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick they could have easily had him. This is turning into one of the non-Herchel Walker related lopsided trades in NFL History fast.
Tom Brady: 38 TDs/4 INT, 3,059 yards, 74% completions, 134.0 rating.
Brett Favre: 19 TDs/8 INT, 2,975 yards, 67.7% completions, room temperature 98.6 rating.
Randy Moss: 66 catches, 1,052 yards, 15.9 YPC, 16 (insert interrobang here) TDs.
So how much of it IS Moss? And at what point is he the MVP?
@RockYouLikeAnIracane: Ew. Facts on Deadspin. And you're just bitter because you had Brady and the other guy had Moss and you lost by three.
@RockYouLikeAnIracane: I thought I was over the not getting Randy Moss thing. Fuck.
@Len Bias Cocaine Surplus: I think the Pats' one loss would have been to the Colts. Moss bailed them out time and again there.
Scores would be closer and the still-unproven defense (sorry, Indy without Marvin isn't much of a test, ask Herm; also, 27 points to the Cowboys is nothing to sneeze at) might have lost a game, too.
@Diddly: Packer fan since 1996. I'm happy, too.
But at least McCarthy's a surprisingly good offensive mind.
@RockYouLikeAnIracane: But a lot of it for Montana was Rice. A lot of it for Aikman was Irvin. A lot of it for Manning has been Harrison. And so on.
@Len Bias Cocaine Surplus: And it was a fourth. All they needed to do was give up a fourth round pick. Fucking fourth round.
@Get Him A Body Bag, Yeah!: [blogs.orlandosentinel.com]
The Case Against Tim Tebow. The comment below it is mine.
@Mr. Marinovich: I think the big difference between Moss and Harrison. Don't get me wrong Harrison is ridiculously amazing. But with Moss there seems to be no problem lobbing it 50 yards down field while two people are blanketing him.
@Mr. Marinovich: I know. And a lot of it for Favre is one Hall-Of-Famer whose career got shortened (Sharpe), one perennial Pro Bowler (Freeman), and a collection of good-to-very good players who've been there for stretches (Driver, Brooks, Rison, Terry Glenn, and perhaps Jennings, though he has more potential.)
So is Favre actually underrated, aside from the media slurping? You tell me.
@Len Bias Cocaine Surplus: My vote for MVP, and I do have one, is Moss.
@Diddly: Instead:

Yip. F. Eee.
@Rick: What is this SporsNation?
Is it for mushroom enthusiasts?

@RockYouLikeAnIracane:
I like facts. They keep me warm. They're like a blanket of reason I use to wrap myself up in when the world's prejudice and irrationality descends like darkness onto my world...
Anyway, I like facts.
"So is Favre actually underrated, aside from the media slurping?"@RockYouLikeAnIracane: Having a tough time squaring that question. As I understand it, the media sort of drives the soul-crushing overrated/underrated debate.
Look, Brady was a HOF'er before this season. All we are learning now is what Brady can do when he has Pro-Bowl (HOF, MVP, take your pick on the classification) caliber weapons around him.
As for Favre, sure, he has probably had fewer weapons over his career than the others in his class of QB.
@Len Bias Cocaine Surplus: Can he get a ruling on this?
@StuScott Booyahs: I called my dad and my friend on the issue and they told me the Yankees suck.
@Mr. Marinovich: If Green Bay had drafted Moss...
/shoots self in face
But really, Favre, Brady, and Manning are ALL in the top, say, 7 of QBs, all-time. We've had one matchup so far, and two more could happen.
@RockYouLikeAnIracane: Way to disprove Harvey Wippleman's piss-poor thesis. Tebow is the best player in CFB this season - no one means more to his team, and no single player is more dominant or can do the things Tebow does.
