Guess who's nominated?

Exactly. Miss Stokke, the young pole vaulter from California who caused a masturbating riot on the internet in 2007, will be going up against ping-pong vixen Biba Golic. Now, remember when all of this controversy bubbled up after Stokke's father, Allan, went to the Washington Post and said he was keeping a "watchful eye" on all the horny strangers admiring his daughter's ass on With Leather. To Allan Stokke, Matt Ufford was evil incarnate and should have been drawn and quartered for sullying his daughter's image. To Allison? She just wanted to pole vault and hated the attention that was coming her way:

"Even if none of it is illegal, it just all feels really demeaning," Allison Stokke said. "I worked so hard for pole vaulting and all this other stuff, and it's almost like that doesn't matter. Nobody sees that. Nobody really sees me."

Cut to two years later, and Miss Stokke, now 20, is part of this Spike TV event. But does she know about this? Or is this just another crop of creepy dudes capitalizing on her looks for their own gain without her knowledge?

I spoke with the marketing folks for Spike TV and, as it turns out, Allison does know about this. She's okay with it. And? If she wins... there's a possibility she will show up to the event to claim her prize as "Sexiest Athlete," Spike TV says. I hope Eli Saslow is penning a follow-up story right this minute.

<![CDATA[Young Allison Stokke Takes On Erin Andrewsness In An Epic Battle of Doability]]> With SHOTY in full swing, the results of In Game Now's "smoking hot pseudo athlete thing", and now the final round of The Big Picture's "Would you do..." Tournament of Champions, it's obviously online voting season for sports blogs. They are down to their final two contestants: The second seed, nubile pole vaulter Allison Stokke is up against AP/Coaches' Poll number one seed, ubiquitous sideline princess, Erin Andrews. Between the two of them, they have probably generated close to 70 kajillion pageviews for sports blogs in 2008. (Baby Mangino was sorely overlooked in this category, in my opinion.)

Right now, Andrews has a slight lead but that could change if enough of the future statutory rapist population can band together to give Stokke one final push. Stand up and be counted and/or profiled.

TONIGHT: Use this space to follow the Green Bay Packers/New Orleans Saints MNF showdown. Maybe they'll have Michelle Tafoya do a special report about which disgruntled Saints player covered the Tom Benson vehicle in feces.

<![CDATA[Allison Stokke Madness Resurfaces With A Vengeance]]> Once again, University of California pole vaulter Allison Stokke is being hunted by the wandering trolls of the internet, thanks to the emergence of new photos featuring the athletic teenager wearing her required sporting uniform and holding a giant pole .Her dad, the chronically annoyed and litigious Allan Stokke, is most likely taking this latest outbreak with the same degree of fatherly aghast which compelled him to try to figure out some way he could file suit against every single person who used the internet the last time. (It's understandable, but be reasonable, old man.)

For now, according to Busted Coverage, Cal is taking a stand by pulling all visual evidence of Ms. Stokke off of its website to protect its star freshman from the millions of creepy men looking for a photo of her newly muscled physique.

Cal's message: You won't be masturbating to Allison on our bandwidth. Go elsewhere with your unwieldy erection, you pervert.

<![CDATA[How To Detract Attention From Your Attractive Teenage Daughter]]> Problem: Nasty bloggers are spreading your 18-year-old pole vaulting daughter's picture across the Internets. (They can send all the letters to Ufford they want, but you can still find the picture here and here and about a million other places.) Solution: Scream your lungs out about it on the front page of The Washington Post.

The wave of attention has steamrolled Stokke and her family in Newport Beach, Calif. She is recognized — and stared at — in coffee shops. She locks her doors and tries not to leave the house alone. Her father, Allan Stokke, comes home from his job as a lawyer and searches the Internet. He reads message boards and tries to pick out potential stalkers. "We're keeping a watchful eye," Allan Stokke said. "We have to be smart and deal with it the best we can. It's not something that you can just make go away."

We sympathize, we suppose, though we assure you, Mr. Stokke: Searching the Internet for what people are saying about your daughter is not a good idea. Meanwhile, Mr. Ufford at With Leather gets trotted out as the blogger whack-a-mole:

"I understand there are certain people who are put off immediately by the tone of my blog," Ufford said. "Every week, there's somebody who takes offense to something, but that's part of being a comedy writer. If nobody is complaining, it probably wasn't funny. You are hoping for some kind of feedback."

We agree: Comedy is indeed hard. Without question, though, giving an huge interview to The Washington Post about how you can't stand everyone talking about your daughter — and including two more attractive pictures — is really the perfect way to get everyone to stop talking about your daughter.

(UPDATE: Upon further reflection, we suppose "screaming your lungs out" is probably a bit of an overstatement.)
