But the live blogs, Blogdomes, and other features that fostered a tight community have been replaced with rumor-mongering, unsolicited attacks, and attempts at generating controversy for page views.     @toolcity: I appreciate your thoughtful response, but...bullshit. Show me one shred of "journalistic integrity" that came with the "You're with me, Leather" story. That sounds like unsolicited rumor-mongering for the sake of page view to me. There were many more like it at the time.

    Like David Byrne said "Same as it ever was".

    I'm absolutely dumbfounded by the people that still think Leitch ran this thing like it was the god damned New York Times when he was the editor. Daulerio has much less of an "aw shucks" attitude, so he seems like a dick to some people. I love them both like fathers that I'll never meet, but this whole Leitch martyrdom reeks of 1st generation "The internet was better in my day" dinosaurdom. #announcements

    @Karlifornia: I realize Deadspin has never been about journalistic integrity. I started reading this site because it was sports news presented in an entertaining format. YWML is a fabulous example, and you make a great point. My argument was that it has become less about the community, the hardcore DUAN! chatters, the live blogs, blog features, etc. YWML took off like wildfire because it was an inside joke/meme from a smaller readership that penetrated the mainstream. At the time, it was a one-of-a-kind item for Deadspin.

    I'm note even trying to argue if its become better or worse, just that it's changed. I enjoyed the Leitch era, but I continue to enjoy Deadspin daily. I'm one of the few in the middle on this, and pragmatic enough to know I shouldn't feel some sense of entitlement to a blog I've been reading for 4 years. #announcements
