Or, Kyle's formula works in the Chicago offense, while Jay's formula doesn't.
He's actually taking shots at the front office and coaching staff; why get Jay Cutler, if he doesn't fit your team's scheme and "identity"? Why not change your team's scheme now that you have Cutler instead of Orton?
This, of course, is even more grievous, because Jay Cutler won't fine, trade, or cut you, while Jerry Angelo and Lovie Smith might.
Question: did the guy snag his underwear too, or was he not wearing any?
And, if he wasn't, how did he have his cup on? I thought a jockstrap would be visible in this shot, but I'll admit my knowledge of men's athletic undergarments is purely theoretical.
@Spielman: Yeah, Spielman is right. And I'm pretty sure wearing a cup would make you a tiny bit slower (damn those things were fucking uncomfortable back in the day).
@Lemme_Know_Ho: I... am mildly appalled at this idea. There are three-hundred-pound men flying around on the field trying to hurt you, how can you not wear a cup?
I'm also shocked that you don't see guys rolling around on the turf in agony more often. "Oh, looks like he just got shook up by that last tackle," as the replay shows a lineman's shoulder driving straight into the groin.
@CumaeanSibyl: Imagine trying to run in the tightest jeans possible, that was it felt for me when I had a cup on. I took one shot to the groin after I ditched mine. Very painful but it was better than the alternative of running like a rhinestone cowboy.
@The Norv Face: And for those of you who've never had the pleasure, when you hear an announcer say, "great diving catch"...you have no idea how great it really was.
@CumaeanSibyl: In reality it's not as bad as you'd think, in terms of getting hit in the junk during normal 'action' of a game. But if you're under a lineman pile or a fumble pile...protect the boys. Thank God I was a wide receiver.
@Lemme_Know_Ho: I'm an idiot. What I meant by the first sentence is that during the normal course of a game you rarely get hit in the junk (unless you're a lineman).
@kent002: Huh, I didn't think of that. I guess if someone does score a direct hit it's going to hurt regardless, and an indirect hit might shove the edge of the cup into something soft.
I can't believe I'm making internet strangers explain male groin safety to me, but I'm grateful for the information. #tips
Damn it all. I just spent the best part of an hour looking for my comment from when Cutler was installed as QB at Denver. Something to the effect of--Bookmark this page. 3 years and Cutler is no longer a starter.
I didn't bookmark the page. By my estimation, I have 10-14 days leaft to be proven correct.
