So, tonight lady Monchhichi and I went to a restaurant for pizza and beer. Toward the end of the night one of the staff came over to my table and started acting like a complete jackass. Among a couple other things he did, he impatiently demanded I take the empty pitcher of beer off my table and hand it to him instead of him reaching a few inches over the table to grab it himself. I reached over and gave it to him, and as he turned to walk away without expressing a word of acknowledgment or gratitude I told him "You're welcome". When he still ignored me, I followed with "you fucking bitch". He silently walked away.
Lady Monchhichi gave me the standard "Was that really necessary?" look, but I pointed out to her that the guy was completely rude for no reason at all so he deserved my ire. She agreed he was rude, but then she added, "I think he's retarded though".
We began to leave and as we were walking toward the door this same worker hurriedly walks up to me and, in a near-panic, tells me I left the take-home box on the table. I explained to him that I didn't need it because I finished off the rest of my pizza. While I was explaining this to him I looked straight into his eyes to see a completely blank stare looking back at me. Sure enough, this guy was 100% bona-fide grade-A retarded.
Tonight, I called a retarded person a fucking bitch.
I truly feel guilty about this and decided on my way home that I would post something on here to try to even up the karma:
Unfortunately, many members of the DS commentariat are quick to make retard jokes when the opportunity presents itself. I am not immune to the glee derived from a good retard joke. However, this makes us assholes.
When it comes down to it, retarded people are beautiful people. No, not physically - physically they tend to be extremely unattractive. But in terms of their souls, they are beautiful. They deserve our respect.
