As about a 50%-Texas fan, I've never been so ashamed of a victory, secured on the back of a kickoff out of bounds, horse-collar tackle, and season-longest FG.

Given that horrific performance, and considering that he has four classes' worth of top-10 recruits, Offensive Coordinator Greg Davis may be the worst successful assistant coach in football history.

It's good that the godless Filipinos are finally getting new T-shirts.

Those "'The Starter Wife' Gets Renewed For A Second Exciting Season!" scoopnecks are really starting to wear out.

New Orleans: Whoo boy. That's not dodging a bullet. That was divine intervention.

Call it what you will - divine intervention, karmic payback for Carney's missed PAT after the River City Relay in 2003, the fact that I promised my first born child to a homeless guy on Canal St. who claimed to be the devil for a Super Bowl win this season. We're just splitting hairs here, really.

    Could TCU beat Texas?

Have you ever had Mexican food in Tempe? TCU has already won, my friend. They've already won.

    Loser: Scott Suisham

It takes a special person to send Redskins fans deeper into despair than they already are. But SS delivered quite the scrotal trauma to the Children of the Zorn by missing a 23-yarder that would have iced the biggest upset of the weekend.

How can people actually defend a sport where three teams can win every single one of their games yet have zero opportunity to win their sport's championship.

I assume you are talking about my kid's tee-ball team that went undefeated and yet the fucking Yankees and Phillies got to play in the World Series? WTF? Thanks for supporting my family's cause, Dash .

Certainly Greg Oden's worst weekend since he caught scurvy aboard the Santa Maria.

Oh, and also the time the Spanish Influenza of 1919 cock-blocked him from a raging 3-way following the Sadie Hawkins dance.

He looks older than he is, you see.

@twoeightnine: Can someone please explain the purpose of said rules? I never understood why the NFL would limit the amount of entertainment it provided its fans. (They would for money, of course, but I don't see how this rule makes them money.)

I remember a game a couple of years back when the CBS guys had to describe from the studio that fluky game-winning field goal (I think it was a Baltimore-Cleveland game) but couldn't show it. It was so fucking awkward.

@TotallyRuckedUp: I would guess that it avoids any situation where a game ends early, they go to "bonus coverage," and then that "bonus coverage" game goes too long. What if that bonus game started out really interesting, but then's there's 5 minutes left, the game's just about over, and your local team's game is starting? In that case, you would want the game to switch to the national game or your local team's game.

In that case, while the excitement levels of the games are different, the situation in terms of TV time is the same. So they switch all of them. Local markets still get to watch their teams, so I guess it all evens out, until you buy DirectTV.

@Chris Hanson's Axe: That still falls way short of sensible to me. I live in Raleigh, and while I understand why I am stuck with the shit-tastic Bucs-Panthers game, it makes no sense to me that bonus coverage should by rule be cut short after that. Why not let the network humanoids make decisions regarding what would be more entertaining and pertinent: Cowboys-Giants first quarter, or OT in DC? At least do it outside of Cowboys-Giants markets, where it's safe to assume 90% of the population would choose the latter every time.

And again, in the Balt-Cle example I cited studio guys were live, describing a game they weren't allowed to show. So that wasn't even for the sake of another game. There is no way this couldn't be better managed.

/team sucks too much & too poor to warrant Direct TV switch and Sunday Ticket purchase
