    @Civil Negligence:

    $241 million was the total of the contracts for CC, Burnett and Tex last offseason.

    BTW, after about May 22nd, because of injuries, the Mets never came close to putting that amount on the field. At one point in early September, they had about $90 million on the DL. #watercoolerfodder

    And sorry, I didn't know a team should have astriks on that list if players, who get paid that money, are injured. But be sure to calculate loss to a team payroll per day on the DL, divided over his gross contract income for that year. #watercoolerfodder

    And you're a typical Philadelphian with a severe inferiority complex when it comes to NYC. My original comment was not even directed at the Phillies but at the Yanks and their off season splurge to ensure that they got to and won the WS. Just stating the fact that the Mets were a bang up team this season. One of the major things the Phils had going for them this season was the fact that they were able to put the same six/seven guys out there day after day. Howard, Rollins, Utley, Victorino, Werth and Feliz all played over 150 games this season and Ibanez played over 130. Take Howard, Utley and Victorino out of the lineup for a significant chunk of the season and the Phils probably don't win the Division. Imagine having to run Eric Bruntlett and Matt Stairs out there day after day. Philadelphia, as a whole, would never stop whining about their luck. #watercoolerfodder
