@Katni: Sammy Hagar Van Halen mostly sucks. David Lee Roth Van Halen is pretty awesome. Fair Warning, Van Halen 1 & 2, Women & Children First, 1984...good stuff.

@DumpsterDining: I would have been watching, but I had to go to an art opening. I am not kidding.
I also had to be pretend to be impressed at a painting of a plant eating tiny children who had looks of horror on their faces.
I assume Fluery had the same look on his face for much of the game.

Anyone ever used Nike+? I'm thinking of getting the small version of the giftpack (iPod nano, sensor, $100 gift card) and wondered how well the kit worked.

@Starburied: I have heard nothing but good things about it. But obviously, it loses a lot of usefulness if the recipient in question does not like listening to music during their run.

Also, be sure that the runner enjoys Nike shoes. Runners can be extremely picky about their shoes. Despite the quality that Nike puts out, the brand does not enjoy a lot of popularity amongst serious runners.

With that said, with just a little bit of information about the runner, a solid recommendation could be made in terms of footwear.

Disclaimer: I used to work for Nike, but before the invention of Nike+. I still have a number of friends with the company.

@The Boy Wonder: Said customer is myself. I've been using Nike hoops and running shoes for about all my life. I've never had any durability issues with the running shoes and more importantly, haven't received any skeleton crushing bone fractures in my shins.

I'm one of those people who HATES running, especially without music, so I feel like if I make a buy here, the music and computer data combo will liven it up a bit.

@Starburied: Its not going to make running fun. But it'll make tracking your workouts infinitely more easy. Also, be sure to get a pair of shoes that are + enabled.

@The Boy Wonder: I saw they have shoes that have the sensor cradle in the sole. Do you think it'd hold up with the weight of any runner over time? Or can I just secure the sensor to the crosslace and have the same effect?

@Starburied: The shoes designed for the sensor function just as well and are as durable as their older counterparts. The sensor is placed in the location where the foot applies the least amount of force during the foot strike (at the arch). You wont be able to tell the difference between a pair of shoes with the cutout (with or without the sensor) and shoes that dont have the cutout.

My Nike buddy tells me holding the sensor in the laces will result in accuracy issues. Running shoes should be changed every 500 miles. You may be due for a new pair anyways. I'm fairly certain by now that Nike makes all of their quality running models with the sensor cutout. Its safe to assume that if the model does not offer a + option, its probably not worth running in.

Evening DUAN. How's this for Saturday night plans? I'm attending a birthday party this evening with an open bar. There, my current girlfriend of 6 months will meet my ex (with whom I shared an acrimonious break-up to say the least) for the first time. It's not gonna be a huge gathering and I do hafta go (as it's for a good friend of mine and me not going would look like I was avoiding the ex), so I'm dreading this. How's everybody else?
